Blogger's Quilt Festival: Repository Mini

Repository is an original pattern created by me. It was inspired by entomology art. You know, bugs arranged under glass and framed. Kind of gross, but as a mini quilt it's pretty fun. This is my second entry in the Blogger's Quilt Festival.

This mini measures 14 inches square. I designed it in EQ7, and it is foundation paper pieced.

I mostly used various Kona Cotton charms. For the background, I used Quilter's Burlap by Robert Kaufman in Straw. Timeless Treasures Sketch in Black was used for the binding.

The backing text fabric is Windham Fabrics A is for... I used Aurifil thread for the piecing and binding. Isacord thread in Linen was used for the straight-line quilting.

This original pattern is available for free download from my craftsy shop. It makes a lovely color wheel wall hanging for a sewing room. Enjoy!

    Very cool - I love the inspiration behind it! It really does look like little butterflies under glass.

    I didn't see bugs under glass, until you said it, and suddenly there are bugs under glass! Very cool. It's a beautiful block (and I've just downloaded the pattern to prove it! ;-) )

    Oh this is pretty! They looked like seeds to me, but now I totally see bugs, which is awesome! Very cool design!
